this is the difference between 32bit and 64bit windows that you definitely don't know

So far there are two different base systems namely 32 bit and 64 bit. Sometimes users do not pay attention to the Windows base that is used, whether 32 bit or 64 bit. Whereas for usage, there is a difference between the two and the difference between the two

Windows is the most popular operating system in Indonesia. The users are no longer counted because the majority of laptops or computers use this operating system. There are many types and types of Windows used in Indonesia and besides that there are also different system bases between these Windows.

So far there are two different base systems namely 32 bit and 64 bit. Sometimes users do not pay attention to the Windows base that is used, whether 32 bit or 64 bit. Whereas for usage, there are differences between the two and these differences will have an impact on performance. Difference between 32 bit and 64 bit Windows

1. Amount of RAM that can be used

The basic difference that most users know is the maximum amount of RAM that can be used. Each system base has different limitations. For Windows based 32 bit has a limited amount of RAM that smaller than 64 bit. Windows 32 bit has a maximum RAM usage limit of only less than 4GB (about 3.2 GB) and will work more optimally when using 1 or 2 GB RAM. While Windows 64 bit can read up to more than 4GB RAM. If 32-bit Windows is paired with 4GB of RAM, only up to 3GB will be read. This is due to differences in processor architecture between 32 bit and 64 bit.

2. 32 bit and 64 bit performance

The difference between the base Windows 32 and 64 bit systems is actually determined by the capabilities of the processor. Of course when compared, 64 bit processor technology is newer than 32 bit. Windows 32 bit with a 32 bit processor too, has the ability to be under 64 bit. So the combination of Windows and this processor is only suitable for doing easy job and open applications that are not too heavy. While Windows and 64-bit processors are suitable for working on heavier work like design, video editing, etc.

3. Ability to Process Data

Architectural differences in Windows and 32 and 64 bit processors will certainly greatly affect the performance of the computer itself. The numbers 32 and 64 actually represent the amount of data that can be processed in one round. 32 bits means that when doing one process, the data loaded is 32 bits. So in one time data processing, Windows, and 64 bit processors are faster and maximal.

4. Software Compatibility

The difference that is quite influential is also compatibility software which can be used. Windows 32 bit won't run software 64 bits. While Windows 64 bit is more flexible because it can run software 32 or 64 bits.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Windows 32 and 64 bit

Advantages of 32-bit Windows:

  • Can run software and legacy applications with 16 bit base.
  • More compatible with older drivers. Perfect for old laptops or computers.
  • Can work optimally even with only 2GB RAM

Disadvantages of 32-bit Windows:

  • Only a few software new compatible
  • Cannot use more than 4GB of RAM
  • Cannot be used for software heavy like After Effects

Advantages of 64-bit Windows:

  • Faster and more efficient
  • Able to make processor performance more optimal
  • Can run software 32 bit
  • Suitable for running software the latest that prioritizes graphics

Disadvantages of Windows 64 bit:

  • Not suitable for old PC
