Some time ago, Xiaomi gradually rolled out MIUI updates for users in Indonesia. However, due to controlled TKDN (Domestic Content Level) regulations, Xiaomi has removed 4G network support in Indonesia in this latest update. This also makes some Xiaomi users who activate auto-update feel annoyed.

Here are some smartphones that get the MIUI 7.5.3.0 update and the 4G is gone, namely the Xiaomi Redmi 3, Redmi 3 Pro and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. Are you one of the Xiaomi users whose 4G is missing? If yes, there here several ways to restore lost Xiaomi 4G.

1. Change Locale to Malaysia

One simple way that you can try to restore the lost 4G Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro is to change the Locale to Malaysia. How, go to the menu Settings - Additional Settings- Locale, then change to Malaysia. When finished, please enter Airplane Mode. After Airplane Mode is turned on, your 4G will reappear.

2. Using Custom Code

If it turns out that the way to change the Locale above fails, don't be sad. There is still another way that you can try to restore the lost Xiaomi 4G, namely by using a special code. The method is:

  • Remove the SIM card on your smartphone. Because all Xiaomi smartphones are equipped with Dual SIM, remove all SIM cards if you use both existing SIM card slots.

  • Go to Phone Dialer, then press *#*#4636#*#*.

  • Select Phone Info 1, then select Set Preferred Network Type.

  • There, please select the CDMA Only setting.

  • Please insert your SIM Card (we recommend inserting 1 SIM Card that has 4G first). Then go to the Settings menu - SIM Card and Mobile Network - Prefered Network then select Global or Prefered 4G (CDMA).

In some cases, when selecting Global it turns out that 4G does not appear. So, you should just choose Prefer 4G (CDMA).

3. Downgrade MIU Version

If the two methods above don't work, then you can try using the last more promising method, namely downgrade to the previous MIUI version. But the risk is that all your data will be lost. So, it is recommended to do a backup first.

  • First, please download the ROM that fits your Xiaomi smartphone here.

  • When finished, rename the ROM you downloaded to update.zip.

  • Open the Updater application on your smartphone, then click the 3 dots in the upper right corner then select Choose Update Package.

  • Please select the name of the ROM update.zip that you downloaded earlier. Wait until the process is complete.
