Indeed, pencak silat itself has risen in profile in recent years thanks to the emergence of this martial art in several local films that have made it worldwide.

1. Migrate (2009)

Originally, a famous actress Christine Hakim has plans to make a documentary that highlights Indonesian culture and one of them is pencak silat.

Original director Wales, Gareth Evans was appointed to be the director of the film but he ended up falling in love with the art of pencak silat which gave birth to action films wander.

With cultural background Minang, this film tells the story Yuda (Iko Uwais), a Minang youth who migrated to the city Jakarta and get involved in the criminal underworld of the city.
