OTF aged more easily than TTF, because it was created in the 1990s. In fact, OTF was developed from TTF.

Didn't Microsoft already make TTF? So why did they create a new format? The reason is simple, gang. OTF is made with more complete features than TTF.

One of the advantages of OTF is its ability to store up to 65,000 characters at a time. With a lot of character storage capacity, OTF is more flexible in terms of design.

OTF is able to add ligatures and alternative characters which are very useful for design needs.

In contrast to TTF which only depends on the table gylph, OTF can also depend on CCF or Compact Font Format.

Although OTF has many advantages, TTF is still widely used around the world because not everyone needs the features that OTF has.

Other Font Formats
