The 3 best ways to fix a damaged or corrupt flash drive

Your flash drive can't be read on your PC or laptop? In fact, it contains important data and files.

Calm down, don't be dizzy! because this time Jaka wants to discuss how to fix an unreadable flash or external hard disk.

Unreadable flash drives are usually caused by viruses, dirty PC USB plugs, fake flash drives, damaged components on the flash drive, often unplugging the flash drive without plugging it in.eject, and so forth.

3 Ways to Fix Unreadable Flash or External Hard Disk

The following is 3 ways to fix an unreadable flash drive. You can also do this method if you have external hard disk which is not detected.

1. Via Control Panel

Step 1: Insert Flashdisk in PC or Laptop

You plug or attach your flash drive to USB port your PC or laptop.

Step 2: Go to Control Panel

To enter Control Menu, Press the button Windows + R on keyboard, then type control and press Enter.

Step 3: Select Device Manager

Next, you change the view Control Panel you become Large Icons as shown below, then select menu Device Manager.

Step 4: Select Legacy Hardware

Next, you select the menu Action then Add Legacy Hardware. Then, in the window that appears, click Next. (If the menu Action does not appear, you just wait for it to appear).

Step 5: Select Search For and Install Hardware Automatically

Then, you choose Search for and install hardware automatically . Then click Next.

If your flash is detected, a menu will appear Autorun, as well as a statement that your flash supports a faster data connection.

Next, icon Removable Hardware on system tray will appear and the new drive in Windows Explorer or My Computer will also appear. If these two things have appeared, then the process in this way no longer needs to be continued

If you haven't read it yet, repeat the steps above but in step 5 select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list.

Next, select some of the available hardware options in the list that appears, then select Storage Controllers. Click OK.

2. Via Disk Management

Step 1: Insert Flashdisk in PC or Laptop

You plug or attach your flash drive to USB port your PC or laptop.

Step 2: Click the Run Menu

Next on Search Box which is on the taskbar you type Run.

Step 3: Open Computer Management

Then, on the menu Run you type compmgmt.msc then press Enter.

Step 4: Select Disk Management

After the window appears Computer Management, choose Storage then menu Disk Management.

Step 5: Format Flashdisk

If the flash is in good condition, the flash will be detected as a new drive. Even though the flash drive reads 0 bytes, at least your computer system knows that the flash drive is connected to the computer.

After that, you Format your Flashdisk by right-clicking on the flash drive and selecting Format, as shown below.

Keep in mind! To do this, all the data on your flash will be lost because it will be formatted.

3. Via CMD

In addition to doing the above method, you can also repair your unreadable flash via CMD. The method:

Step 1: Insert Flashdisk in PC or Laptop

You plug or attach your flash drive to USB port your PC or laptop.

Step 2: Open the CMD program

Next, you click the menu Start then scroll down and select menu Windows System. After that, choose again Command Prompt.

Step 3: Format Flashdisk

If your flash drive is in F then type F: /FS: FAT, if for example is in D then FORMAT D: /FS:FAT. Then click Enter to format your flash drive.
